Here is a dream novel I wrote not too long ago ^^ it's pretty crappy but I thought I'd share it anyways xD
* * * * * * * *
Papaya Kikumaru put her books inside of her bag, she was the only person in the classroom, or so she thought. Jiroh who was a regular of Hyotei's tennis team, walked up to her at that moment and cleared his throat.
"Kikumaru-san, I've liked you since first year," he started, a blush creeping up on his cheeks. "Will you go out with me?"
Papaya couldn't believe her ears, she had wanted to say the same thing to Jiroh for a long time. "Yes." she smiled, wrapping her arms around him. The two embraced in the empty classroom.
Atobe, who had been listening behind the door clenched his fists and walked away.
He gets what he wants
Jiroh ran through the hallways and out of the front doors of the school, straight to the tennis courts. He was going to be late for practice. He stopped and caught his breath when he reached the clubhouse.
"Now that you have a girlfriend practice isn't important...a~n?"
Jiroh knew exactly whose voice that was and knew how much trouble he was in. He turned to face the angry ore-sama with a pleading look on his face.
"I'm so sorry Atobe-san! I fell asleep in class!" Atobe clearly didn't believe him. "Che. Don't let it happen again or you'll be out of the regulars for sure." he threatened as he walked over to the tennis courts to join the other regulars for practice.
After practice Jiroh was greeted by Papaya who handed him a towel, which he now noticed had his name embroidered on it. He smiled as he took the towel from her, all his troubles seem to vanish when he looked into her smiling blue eyes. "Thank you Papaya-chan, I'll treasure it."
Atobe, who had been spying on them from behind a tree watched jealously as the two walked hand-in-hand out of the front gates. He decided that he would follow them that day.
Papaya dragged Jiroh into the local sport equipment store on their way home.
"Jiroh-kun, I want to buy you some grip tape." she smiled, leading him into the tennis section. Jiroh blushed. "But you already bought me this nice towel, I'd rather spend more time with you than have some grip tape."
Papaya turned to him and gave him the puppy dog eyes, which Jiroh could not resist as hard as he tried.
"Alright Papaya-chan. You're too good to me." he smiled as he picked up a roll of his favorite grip tape and handed it to the smiling blonde who let out a little "yay!" before dragging him to the register to pay. Atobe emerged from behind the hockey equipment and pretended to bump into Jiroh.
"O-oh, Atobe-san SUMIMASEN!" Jiroh quickly bowed. Atobe smirked as he looked over at Papaya.
"Jiroh-kun, you never told me your girlfriend was this beautiful." Atobe said as he raised Papaya's hand up to his mouth and kissed it. Papaya took her hand back a blush spread all over her face.
"Ah, Atobe-san this is my girlfriend Papaya Kikumaru." Jiroh said.
"It's a pleasure to meet you." Atobe said to Papaya who was still blushing. Jiroh fought back a little jealousy.
"And this is Atobe Keigo san from the regulars tennis team." he finished. Papaya bowed. "Yoroshiku."
"Well, I'll leave you two lovebirds alone, it was nice meeting you Kikumaru-san. I'll see you at practice tomorrow Jiroh." Atobe waved as he left the store.
The next day at practice Atobe pulled Jiroh aside.
"What is it Atobe-san?" he asked, twirling a strand of his hair with his finger.
"You are distracted Jiroh. I don't want to say this but you need to break up with your girlfriend if you want to keep your spot on the regulars, we can't have you messing up in a tournament because your head is in the clouds." Atobe said firmly.
"I-I can't break up with her..."
Atobe turned around. "I guess it can't be helped a~n I'll go see Sakaki-san."
"WAIT!" Jiroh yelled. Atobe stopped. "I'll break up with her." Jiroh said reluctantly. Atobe kept his back turned to Jiroh so that he could not see the evil smirk that had appeared on his lips. I get what I want.
Practice ended and Jiroh's heart stopped when he saw Papaya approach him with another towel. She offered it to him but he didn't take it instead he turned away from her.
"Jiroh-kun?"
"Papaya, we need to break up. I don't want to see you anymore!" Jiroh said as he ran past her, tears flowing down his cheeks. Papaya just fell to her knees and buried her face in the towel that had 'Papaya and Jiroh' embroidered on it. "Why Jiroh-kun?" she sobbed.
Atobe who had seen the whole thing walked over to the sobbing girl and placed his hand on her shoulder, which was shaking.
"What's wrong Kikumaru-san?"
Jiroh hadn't stopped running until he reached the park, the park that him and Papaya had often took walks through. He sat at a bench and buried his face into his hands, try as he might he couldn't erase the image of hurt on Papaya's face. Was tennis really more important to him?
The next day after practice was over Jiroh walked out half expecting Papaya to be standing there waiting with a towel, but she wasn't. Jiroh saw a towel on the ground and picked it up. His heart sank when he saw that it had 'Papaya and Jiroh' embroidered on it, it must have been the towel she was going to give him yesterday. At that moment Jiroh realized that Papaya was much more important to him than tennis. He clutched the towel and ran to the clubhouse to get his stuff, he stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Papaya blushing as she gave Atobe a towel. Atobe accepted the towel and kissed her on the cheek.
"He gets what he wants." Oshitari said walking past Jiroh into the clubhouse.
"May ore-sama walk you home?" Atobe asked the already blushing blonde. Papaya smiled and nodded. "I'll put my stuff away." As soon as Atobe disappeared into the clubhouse Jiroh approached Papaya who just turned her head. That hurt.
"Papaya..."
"What do you want?" she snapped.
Before Jiroh could answer that Atobe appeared beside Papaya and put his arm around her shoulder. "If you'll excuse us." he said, leading her past Jiroh.
The next day Jiroh happened to spot Papaya walking out of the sports equipment store alone.
"Papaya!" She turned when she heard her name. Jiroh walked up to her then.
"Yes?" she asked, a bit of annoyance in her voice.
"We need to talk."
"I'm listening."
"I made a mistake Papaya, I should have never broke up with you. I realized that you mean more to me than tennis."
"Che. So you did break up with me because I was getting in the way of your practices. Atobe-san was right." Papaya said, turning her head so that Jiroh couldn't see the hurt expression on her face.
"What? No, I broke up with you because Atobe told me that--"
"There you are Papaya-chan." Atobe cut him off appearing behind Papaya and wrapping his arm around her shoulder. "If you'll excuse us."
Not this time.
"NO! I won't excuse you! You lied Atobe! You said that I would lose my spot on the regulars if I didn't break up with Papaya-chan!" Jiroh shouted.
"Nonsense." Atobe chuckled, sweating a little when Papaya gave him a questioning glace.
"But I realized something Atobe, she means much more to me than my spot on the regulars. So go ahead and kick me out, it doesn’t mean anything if I can't have her by my side!"
Papaya could feel the tears pour down her cheeks as she pushed Atobe away and turned to Jiroh who welcomed her with open arms.
"Che. forget you two. Jiroh report to practice on Monday and don't you dare slack off!" Atobe snapped walking away. Jiroh smiled as he hugged Papaya tight.
He doesn’t always get what he wants.
